Happy Thanksgiving!...
It's finally Thanksgiving, my second favorite holiday (behind Christmas)! I hope that your day is full of family, love, and, of course, thanks!

Deep in the Heart of Texas...
Well, here I am. It's been a long week my friends. A very long week. Halloween has come and gone and Thanksgiving is around the corner. Before we all know it it'll be Christmas and I'll be the happiest little Texan ever!
Best story ever...I had twins! Twin parking tickets that is. Well, not really twins because they came on Monday and Tuesday, but you get the idea. Apparently I parked in a handicap spot. I couldn't tell it was a handicap spot though because it didn't have a handicap sign. Thankfully, after they gave me a THIRD ticket, they called me to give me the opportunity to move my car before it got towed. Even more thankfully, because I immediately moved my car, they voided the third ticket so I'll be out $160.00 instead of $240.00. Actually, I'm only out $80 because my mom is awesome and paid for the other. I thinks it's because she felt bad for me because I was sick that day and was crying because it just compounded more suck on an already sucky day.
In other news, there is an awesome headache-y, nauseating cold-y thing going around and guess who got it. Remember that story about being me being sick? Yeah, apparently that's what I had. The room mate of a friend of mine had it too. Awesome thing to be going around. At least it's not the swine flu/avian flu combo of last year. For all of you just turning in...'regular' flu, is avian so when CNN gets all crazy about 'bird flu', they're just talking about the flu.
I'm gonna go now because I'm very tired. Good night!

...It Won't be Long...
Being that tomorrow is the official first day of fall, here is something to look forward to in 64 days.
I hope you're as excited as I am!
Bohemian Rhapsody...
So, here's the kicker. In higher education there is a set list of classes that one must take. Those are called "core classes". They're easy as pie and you can usually get them on the cheap at a community college. Beyond those classes, there are "college required" classes. Those are the classes that a particular college at a university requires it's students to take. Now, I don't mean college as in the synonym university, I mean college as in Blah Blah University College of Fnafnanfa. For example, I am a student in the Stephen F Austin State University College of Liberal and Applied Arts for both my major (sociology with an emphasis on anthropology - yeah, try explaining how that works) and my minor (psychology).
I have taken all but four, yes four of the classes that I need to. And here is where my problem lies. I have to take a sociology class simply called "theory". What's the problem? That class in only offered in the Fall. Guess what, it's Fall and I'm not taking that class and I'm supposed to graduate in May. DUN, DUN, DuuuuuN (scary music). Poop. What, um, am I supposed to do? According to my advisor, I can substitute a different upper level class! Provided that it is approved by the chair of the department of social and cultural analysis, the dean of the college and the dean of the university. Thankfully, my advisor says it shouldn't be a problem. I should be able to find a class that will be approved because there are plenty of 400 level classes. If I have to, I can do Independent Study.
Just:
31 Days Until my Birthday,
64 Days Until Thanksgiving and
94 Days Until Christmas (Woot! Double Digits)!

Wake me When September Ends...
This is all about the Rangers...so get ready!
I think that this is the first that I've written about them so let me fill you in a little. Chris Davis was the opening day first baseman. Then, on April 22nd, he was sent down to AAA Oklahoma City and Justin Smoak was called up. June was a fantastic month for the team. They gained a lead in the AL West followed closely by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Oakland Athletics. They won eleven games in a row and Josh Hamilton had a twenty-one game hit streak (which ended in a game against the Angels in which they intentionally walked him, I took it hard). It seems as though they would never be stopped. Josh Hamilton was king and Nelson 'Nellie' Cruz brought the boom-stick. Ranger announcers Josh Lewin and Tom 'TAG' Grieve first called Tommy Hunter and Bengie Molina the "Beefy Battery". Speaking of Molina, he was a surprise. Our two catchers were supposed to be Taylor Teagarden and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Both were sent down to the minors and we added Matt Treanor to the mix. Then it was July 9th. On that day, the Rangers decided that they needed a new starting pitcher, an ace and they put in a bid for pitching ace Cliff Lee from the AL West last place Seattle Mariners. So did the New York Yankees. Everyone assumed that Lee would be wearing pinstripes. They were wrong. The Rangers won Lee from Seattle because they had the one thing the Mariners wanted, Justin Smoak. So, Smoak and Lee packed their bags got on some planes and the trade was made. Now, first base was vacant to Chris Davis was recalled from the minors. He struggled. Then it was All-Star time. The Rangers were sending five players to the game. But, then they got Lee. Seattle fans were not happy. They felt that because he was voted in as a Mariner, that Lee should wear a Mariner jersey in the game. The Rangers were having none of this and sent six players instead. It was during this time that something began popping up after every awesome offensive play the boys did. Well, two things to be exact, the claw for a hit and the antlers for speediness (i.e. a double, or going first to third).
While all of this was going on, the Rangers were filing for bankruptcy, Tom Hicks was voted off the island and no one knew if we would be able to afford Josh Hamilton next year. That brings me to, well, now.
Yes, the Rangers are still number one in their division. No, they are no longer in ownership limbo thanks to Nolan Ryan and Chuck Greenberg. Hamilton is still the reigning king of baseball currently leading all of MLB in batting average, and Nellie is still bringing the stick. C.J. Wilson is the new Ranger ace leaving everyone to wonder what happened to Cliff Lee. We have a new everyday first baseman...no, not that one...no, not that one...yeah, him. Hunter and Molina are still a rockin' "Beefy Battery", but Matt Treanor deserves to play more. Saltalamacchia got traded to the Boston Red Sox and Teagarden got added back to the roster as an extra man for the playoffs. The whole world now shoots the claw and the antlers and just about everyone agrees that the Rangers are the most fun ball club in the game. They've also gotten about a zillion new players aside from Molina, Treanor, and Lee: Cristian Guzman, Jorge Cantu, Esteban German, Jeff Francour and I'm sure several more that I can't think off. There was also a bid for Manny Ramirez. I heard he's a diva. I'm glad he went to the Chicago White Sox. First the Rangers were hot. Then they were cold. Then they were hot. Now they're sort of lukewarm edging to warmer...warmer...warmer...nope. False alarm. They can beat the Yankees. No, they can't. Yes, they can...in a five and a half our long game. And on, and on it goes.
As you can see, July and August have been quite roller coaster-y. There are naysayers out there that would put down the Rangers even though they have more than proven their merit. They finally have a rotation worth watching after having been plagued by that position in years past and a batting rotation that causes opponents to shake in their...uh...cleats? Yeah, cleats. They also have one of the best bullpens in the ENTIRETY of the Majors.
Sure, if they were in the West or Central divisions they wouldn't be at the top...but they would still be an awfully feisty foe. Sure, they have slumped playing nothing like they did in June, but fake grass is evil and it's freaking hot in Texas. Like, REALLY HOT. ALL THE TIME! EVEN AT CHRISTMAS! ONE WHITE CHRISTMAS SINCE, LIKE, THE TWENTIES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT!
But, I digress. Lo siento mis amigos.
Everyone knows that the Rangers are clenching the division. Everyone also knows that the playoffs are going to be rough. But, like I said, those boys are feisty which means that no matter what, they'll give it their all and make it fun.
Oh! And Chris Davis is back...again...again.
Just:
41 days until my birthday,
75 days until Thanksgiving and
105 days until Christmas!

Goodbye, Hello...
It's truly been ages since I've posted on this thing! Field school is over and thank God for that! Yesterday, when we had to fill up our holes, we were caught in a hardcore down pour! It was ridiculous and I never want to do that again!
You should have seen us. We looked like drowned rats! We were literally dripping mud and muddy water all over the place. Not only that but several people called us rednecks. If only they knew me!
It took us five-ish hours to put all of it back. The rain made the buckets of dirt super heavy and the mud opn the ground made it super slippery! Super slippery!!
Yeah, this picture was taken BEFORE the rain really started! It got so much worse!
However, it was fun to be out in the rain...just not back-filling holes!

Bust a Move...
Glee is awesome. I always get into things after everyone else. I guess that's the way my cookie crumbles though. It's all good. In the hood. Yo.
Yes, I really just said that.
Yes, I really just said that.

Put a Little Love in Your Heart...
I have decided that I love The Vampire Diaries.
That is the main cast by the way. It truly is an awesome show. It is super entertaining.
Anyhow, this week has been rough. I started my field school on Monday, but because it's been raining, we had to cancel on Thursday and leave early on both Tuesday and Wednesday. I actually am okay with that because it is boiling lava hot outside and it sucks to be a walking, talking waterfall. It's gross. Super gross. I also keep getting invaded by bees and a certain ginormous black caterpillar. I wish he was blue because then we could name him Absolem, we settled on Harold though. By 1100 everyone is so ready to come back to school, even our professor.
I spent the better part of today organizing my room and am so pleased with myself. It looks SO much better in here...on my side at least. I did get a good room mate this time so that's really good.
I think I'm gonna go now. Good bye!

I've got Sunshine...
My last day of class was today. I didn't think that it would ever end. The last day of actual class is always that way. ALWAYS! I wonder why that is. Anyhow, the final is on Tuesday. I have nothing on Monday which makes me super happy because it's the only day of actual vacation I will have had since the spring semester ended two weeks ago. Truly!
I spent a long time cleaning things tonight. Our downstairs is beautiful and so is my room. I have to work all day tomorrow but only on Sunday morning so that afternoon will be spent cleaning bathrooms. They really need it. Like, really, really need it. I wonder if I can get my brother to clean HIS room? Probably not so I'm not even going to try. It would be a waste of breath. At least everything else will be beautiful!
I am going to bed now because I have to work all day tomorrow...er...today.

Perfect Day...
Today, I got a 98 on my psych test! I am so excited right now that I could scream.
Anyhow, I have set up a second account on which I will write about the more serious thoughts that I have.
Last night I watched the season finale of Criminal Minds and was very pleased. It was good to see Tim Curry even though he played the unsub and was gross. I am still VERY sad about Matthew Gray Gubler's new haircut. I miss his long hair and it's only been two episodes. He did post a picture on Twitter last month though so I should be used to it by now, but I'm not.
I am going to go to bed now. I have class tomorrow. The last class before the final on Tuesday (we have Monday off because of the holiday). I have to get up a little early to finish my paper on The Producers' Leo Bloom and his panic disorder.

HOLD THE PRESSES!!!
If there is a RaceTrac gas station anywhere near you, go there now and get the $6.99 free refill cup (actually here it comes to $7.56 with tax)! Yes, you read that right, FREE REFILL! The thing could pay for it's self in one day!
I swear, walking into the store today was like walking into some movie. Everyone had one of those (red, green, blue or purple) cups and was standing around talking. It was weird. Really weird.
Anyhow, two days ago I watched a full episode of The Vampire Diaries for the first time. I tell you, Ian Somerhalder is one unbelievably sexy fellow, with his bright blue eyes and super dark hair...yum! I still love Roger though. By the way, he was on this weeks episode of CSI: Miami. He played the villain. Go figure.
Huh, I haven't seen that show in ages. How fortunate that I decided to watch it last night!
Class is still going well. I got an 89 on my test yesterday! Woot, go me! I figure that since I got an 88 on the last one and an 89 on this one, that I should get a 90 on the next one this Thursday. It's only logical. It's a pretty easy class, which is good. I like easy, it's like eating pie. Which I love. Hence the saying, "easy as pie".
On Sunday, as I was getting ready for work I was listening to Christmas music (thank you Hobby Lobby for getting me in the cheery mood WAY too early). My brother was in his room with the door closed, playing his guitar. All of the sudden it got real quiet for, like, thirty seconds and then I heard, "what the heck?" It got quiet again like he was making sure he was hearing what it was he thought he was hearing and then he opened his door and asked if I was joking.
The HL says that their Fall and Christmas stuff is available July through November/December. If that's true, why is there a whole aisle chock-full of fall garland!?! It's got me all wishing is was October, and not only because my birthday falls in it.
I love everything about fall: the colors, the crisp chill (though in Texas it's usually still boiling), my birthday, Charlie Brown specials, Halloween, Thanksgiving, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Cowboys stomping the competition, decorating for Christmas as soon as all of the Thanksgiving leftovers are put away, etc. It's just wonderful. I get really excited when the winter commercials start airing because I know that soon it will be "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"! My favorite one is the Campbell's Soup commercial where the snowman goes into a house to eat soup and when he melts there is a little boy inside and "Let it Snow" is playing in the background. It's an oldie but a goodie! It's usually the first one I see every year so for me, it marks the beginning of the season. That one and the Hershey's Kiss hand bells commercial! I also love so many others but those two really get me excited!
I have to go to bed now!

Fourth of July...
The first class of my May semester was on Monday and the first test is on Wednesday. How special is that? I really should get studying for it.
Instead I'm watching Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay just because it has Roger Bart in it. I really love him. I guess I can do both so, goodnight. That movie, by the way, not for the prudish.
**UPDATE** I got an 88! Not bad.

I Feel So Much Better!...
Yes! It's finally done! This semester is all over and done with!
I start class again on Monday. Poop.
Anyhow, it's gonna take forever to pack all of my crap up. I just started washing my clothes and people still have their crap in the dryers. Ugh. Speaking of crap, how did I acquire so much of it? It's everywhere! I didn't know I had so much trash everywhere. I've taken out eleven, yes, ELEVEN bags of trash. Well, they're small bags so it's more like, five and a half. But still, crap EVERYWHERE! I've been at it for two hours and I've barely made a dent. At least I have all day tomorrow and part of Friday to get it all done. I figure it's all about trash today and tomorrow I'll start actually packing. Until then, I'm knee deep in old notes and homework.
Hmmm, I've decided to give my neighbors a reprieve from Young Frankenstein...so I'm listening to Legally Blonde: The Musical! Good stuff. I love this album. I'm kind of peeved though because I wanted to see both of those shows in New York but they've both ended their runs. Still though, Young Frankenstein is coming to Texas in a few weeks so I've got to convince my mommy to take me. Roger Bart for me please, yes? YES! (Deep Breath)
I should get back at it. Goodbye!

Please Don't Touch Me...
So far, this week is turning out to be pretty great. I am done with three of my finals with one more to go tomorrow and that's it for this semester! To make things better, my room mate has already moved out! Best week ever! Except for the fact that last night at about 2:30, the fire alarm in the building went off because someone left something in the oven. Who would be cooking something at 2:00 in the morning? It smelled like burnt french fries. Eww.
As we all filed out of our building, I noticed that everyone was looking around slightly ashamed because we were all in our jammies. Everyone was also trying really hard not to look at anyone else in the eye because they feared the judgment that would befall their SpongeBob PJs.
Anthropology has taught me to notice weird things.

Haben sie gehort das Deutsche Band ?...
Today has been the longest day for sure. Hmmm, I really don't want to take my Spanish final tomorrow. I think I'm ready for it though. I have been studying for it all year because it's COMPREHENSIVE. Who does that? I mean really? It's just mean.
I have so much to do still though. I also have to study for my Qualitative Research Methods class too. That test should be pretty easy because my professor gave us a "stick to it VERY closely like in high school" review sheet. She also did that for our Monkeys, Apes and Humans class.
**UPDATE** I got a 60 something on the test and a B in the class! Good times.

Der Guten Tag Hop Clop...
So, Twitter seems to be sick today. Everyone lost their 'Following/Followers' lists. Poor Ashton Kutcher. If they can't get it fixed, he's gonna have to re-campaign to get his million plus followers again! Oh, well.
Anyhow, I'm watching The Producers again. I can't get enough of Mel Brooks. All of his stuff is so happy. Later today I might watch Robin Hood: Men in Tights. The ONLY down side to that movie is the lack of Roger Bart (see yesterday's post). I need, NEED to see the original Young Frankenstein, but it's not available to watch instantly on Netflix. It's not fair. So far as The Producers goes, I can't wait til "Keep it Gay!" comes on. I really want to see if my room mate is all, "What is that? Keep it gay? What?" Although, she'd have to pull herself away from her phone for two seconds. She just got back and she immediately got on her phone. It drives me nuts when she talks on her phone because she'll be on it ALL. DAY. LONG! She just covers her head with her comforter. I don't know why she does that. I guess she thinks it makes her inaudible. It doesn't. Besides, the room ain't that big (15' x 9').
Moving on, I just finished my first final of the semester. I didn't like it. It was so hard. He covers so much information (20+ pages typed) and just about every person has the same. He jumps around so much it's ridiculous. Every time we finish information for one test, we go back to cover different information over about the same time period and over and over it goes.
Hmmm, I am excited! I get to go home on Friday. Actually, I get to go visit my grandmothers for a belated Mother's Day. I love them. And my mommy. She's the bestest. Being that this is the last week though, it's gonna last forever-n-ever-n-ever-ever. I still have a lot to do. Cleaning wise. And studying. I should go do that.
**UPDATE** Twitter is all better now. Apparently people figured out that if you put "accept" before someone's user name (i.e. accept @WilliamShatner) it would automatically make them follow whomever put that command in. Since that's not a very nice thing to do, it had to be fixed, and now it is.
**UPDATE UPDATE** I gave in and bought Young Frankenstein and watched it. It was glorious!
Just:
166 days until my birthday,
199 says until Thanksgiving and,

Transylvania Mania...
Happy Mother's Day to my mom and yours!
Anyhow, it's finals week here at SFASU and I am super excited. Well, that it's the last week of class, but not about the the finals. I hate finals. In fact, I am procrastinating to the nth degree times a thousand! I should stop now.

I Got a Pea...
So, just two more weeks of school until finals (I'm so giddy it hurts)! Then I have 5 more semesters consecutively until next spring when I graduate. I hate me right now...and that's not mentioning all the years it takes to get Master's and Doctoral degrees. Scheiße.
Anywho, like I said on Friday, I had a "Buffy-thon" all weekend and it was awesome! I know, I know Buffy is kind of dorky to watch, unless you get it anyway, but I had fun. Especially 'cause I was all sick and such. I also realized, while watching the show, that when I talk, I talk like her and her Scoobies. The way they say words and the emphases are very much similar to those said and done myself. I just don't write like that because many, many years ago, like a whole two, I was an English major and they get all frowny about those sorts of things with the proper and such. I think I picked up my speech pattern watching the show. I mean, where else am I gonna' learn that sort of odd cadence? Granted it wasn't until I was in my teens, but if you are around someone long enough you pick up on their habits so, I guess I watched "Buffy" so much I picked up on their speech habits. Hmmm.
I have to read a book called "The Night Battles" about "Witchcraft and Agrarian Cults in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries". I'm very excited by this considering I'm taking a cults class in the Fall. By the way, being an Anthropology major means you get to take awesome classes like that. And ones all about monkeys and apes (both lesser and greater) among other types of primates. And then you get to go to cool places like Chimp Haven to observe the chimps that are retired from medical testing and acting. I also got to learn how to be a hit at the zoo and get all the primates to come talk to me! Yeah, I'm that cool.

You’re the Reason Our Kids Are So Ugly...
I have to write an ethnography for my "Qualitative Research Methods" class. The subject that I have chosen to study is the "Star Trek Fan Culture" - people who are known to most as 'Trekkies'. I also hope to be able to gather information from William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Wil Wheaton, Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg. Including them, of course, hinges on whether or not they are willing to "play along". I am fully prepared to beg for their involvement if necessary. My professor is terribly jealous of the possible involvement of Misters Shatner and Nimoy thus making my hope of their involvement all the more potent.
I have a feeling that this project will be of the up most interest to many. Why? Because there is not a person who walks this earth who is not intrigued by 'Trekkies'. They are, I feel, misconstrued as people who have no life or are purely dorks, nerds and losers in the same way that LARPers are. It's not fair. It's not right.
Anyhow, tomorrow I have to create my set of questions for the project. Actually two sets, one for the actors and one for the fans, again, assuming the actors are willing to participate.
**UPDATE** I eventually changed the topic to "Vampire Fan Culture: Who Has the Biggest Fangs?".
Anyhow, only:
191 days until my Birthday,
224 days until Thanksgiving and
254 days until Christmas.
